Hank
Watercolor, 10½ x 7½"   - framed  $300

Sometimes, you glance around a crowd and connect with a face. Your eyes meet and that brief look tells you everything you need to know. That's how it was when I met him, an aging but extremely proud rooster at the Folsom Zoo.  His neck had more bald spots than feathers but he thought he was the most handsome of all the birds. Although I've never met a rooster who wasn't vain (pay them a few compliments and they are willing to stop and soak up your admiration -- like most men), he made strutting an extreme sport!  He posed for me for well over an hour, chest puffed out as he walked along the fence. He had what it took... he knew it... and he didn't mind letting everyone know. I call that testosterone!
